Outreach Grants

Are you a chemistry teacher in Columbia, Dane, Dodge, Green, Green Lake, Grant, Iowa, Lafayette, Marquette, or Sauk County?

If you are, then you are eligible to apply for a special Outreach Grant. The grant program is sponsored by the ACS Wisconsin Local Section, but you don’t need to be a member of ACS to apply!

  • What: Outreach grants are intended to help you present chemistry more effectively to groups outside the discipline—to be a Chemistry Ambassador! Example projects might include:
    • Participating in the Science Olympiad; WI Crystal Growing Contest; perhaps National Chemistry Week and/or Earth Day
    • Bringing scientists to your school or taking students on field trips
    • Demonstrating the wonder of science to your local community
  • Who: All chemistry teachers in the 10 counties listed above. You do not need to be an ACS member because we will sponsor your membership: the WI Local Section will pay your 2018 Affiliate Member dues of $2/year. Just indicate when you complete the easy online application form
  • Budget: Awards can be in the range of $250 to $1000. If you can get matching funds that would help you achieve even more impact.
  • How & When: To apply, simply go to the online application form. The deadline for receipt of applications is March 1st, 2018.
  • Questions: Not sure your project idea would qualify for a grant? Get in touch with Ilia Guzei at iguzei@chem.wisc.edu or 608-262-4694.

Submit your grant proposal!
